Location and Date

The workshop will be held at the Monona Terrace Convention Center. The website for the Terrace describes the facility as follows. “This magnificent, five-level, lakeside facility – inspired by world-renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright – opened its doors in 1997. Since then it has played host to conventions, meetings, banquets and memorable social events.” In particular, the Monona Terrace was the location for the 2003 IEEE Computer Society Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, and feedback from the organizers and attendees of that meeting suggests that the Terrace will be an ideal location for SSP 07. T

The workshop will be held on August 26-29. Madison weather is excellent in August, usually sunny with high temperatures in the upper 70’s to low 80’s Fahrenheit (24-28 degrees C). There is plenty of fun to be had in Madison at this time of year, ranging from hiking, biking, swimming and boating to exiting nightlife and shopping on Madison’s famed State Street.

Travel Options

Travel to and from Madison is relatively easy. Madison’s Dane County Airport is located about 10 minutes from downtown and the convention site. Non-stop flights are available between Madison and a host of cities including Newark, New York LaGuardia, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Las Vegas, Memphis, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Cleveland. Additionally, Northwest Airlines offers several daily flights to/from Minneapolis and Detroit (two of its major hubs for national and international flights), and United and American airlines offer several daily connections to Chicago (a major hub for those airlines).
