I received the B.S.E. (summa cum laude) in electrical and computer engineering from Duke University in 2000 as an Angier B. Duke Scholar, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Rice University in 2002 and 2005, respectively, where Prof. Robert Nowak was my advisor. I received the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2007 and am a member of the DARPA/IDA Computer Science Study Panel (news article here). I am also a Instructor for FEMMES (Females Excelling More in Math Engineering and Science; news article here) and a local exhibit leader for Sally Ride Festivals.

I have also worked as a Fellow of the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics at UCLA, as a visiting researcher at the University of Wisconsin-Madison 2003-2005, and the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA) in 2003, and as a member of the Applied Science Research and Development Laboratory at GE Medical Systems (now GE Healthcare) in 2002. I am a recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, the Rice University Presidential Scholarship, and the Society of Women Engineers Caterpillar Scholarship.

My research interests include signal and image processing and communication with applications in medical imaging, astrophysics, and wireless sensor networks.
