Installing TTSSH
TTSSH is actually a program called TeraTerm Pro which has had
SSH extensions added to it. It's definitely a very nice
program.
There are about three ways to install TTSSH: easy, more complex and
tedious.
The easy way, good choice :-)
- Download the file: ttssh-ece.zip
- Unzip (extract) this file into the directory: C:\Program
Files\TTSSH
- Make a shortcut for the program ttssh.exe by dragging the
icon labeled ttssh.exe to the desktop.
- When you run ttssh, you will be given the option of telnet
or SSH. You will need to select SSH.
You don't trust the easy way, I can understand that. The
complex way may be more your speed:
- Download Tera Term Pro AND
the SSH extensions from the ECE web
site.
- Unzip and install the TeraTerm program (ttermp23.zip).
- Extract to a temporary directory
- Go to the directory
- run the program: setup.exe
- Select the language you want
- Accept the default install location
- Wait until program claims to be finished installing
- Unzip and install the SSH extensions
- Extract (unzip) the ttssh.zip file to the directory
where Tera Term Pro is installed (C:\Program
Files\TTERMPRO by default)
- quit your unzip program
- Use the program ttssh.exe in the install directory
- When run, this should give an SSH option in addition to the
telnet option. Use SSH.
Okay, so you don't even trust my copies of the programs, so go get
them from the original authors (in Japan and Australia).
- Go to the TTSSH
page.
- About halfway down the page is a link for getting TTSSH, get
the ttssh.zip file.
- Also listed here is a link to the TeraTerm Pro homepage. Go
to this homepage and download the most recent version of
TeraTerm Pro.
- Armed with the original .zip files, do the following steps.
- Unzip and install the TeraTerm program (ttermp23.zip).
- Extract to a temporary directory
- Go to the directory
- run the program: setup.exe
- Select the language you want
- Accept the default install location
- Wait until program claims to be finished installing
- Unzip and install the SSH extensions
- Extract (unzip) the ttssh.zip file to the directory
where Tera Term Pro is installed (C:\Program
Files\TTERMPRO by default)
- quit your unzip program
- Use the program ttssh.exe in the install directory
- When run, this should give an SSH option in addition to the
telnet option. Use SSH.
