Large existing NGO's in the field of conservation do generate
resources, but because of large overheads, bloated and
inefficient bureaucracies as well as inadequate exposure
to field conditions, timely and target specific assistance and
material help is often the casuality. In addition there is very
little investment in high quality field research to gather valuable
data, information and gain insights into problems facing specific
protected areas. Lesser known sanctuaries are especially neglected.
There is an emphasis on large charismatic mammals, while many
other forms of bio-diversity are neglected. We would like to be
different in this regard.
The Indian professionals in the US and their counterparts in India
especially the relatively well endowed IT sector are our target community.
Based on the success of development voluntary groups such as
AID-India and ASHA for Education,
there is a need to have a similar organization exclusively dedicated to
raising financial, material and skilled human resources for the protection
and management of the 500 odd protected areas in India.
The IT sector is relatively one of the most environmentally friendly industry.
There will be fewer contradictions in seeking resources from this
sector.
