Any country that is as rich in bio-diversity as India should invest
in its conservation and planned management. Forest and biodiversity
provide many goods and services ranging from watershed protection
and maintenance of regional climatology to sources of invaluable
medicinal plants, a valuable gene pool for forestry and agriculture
and forms an integral part of our culture and heritage. In the years
to come, our last remaining forests and biodiversity reserves will
be a more strategic national resource than any other one. India's
bio-diversity, forest and wildlife heritage is undergoing rapid
destruction and impoverishment due to unsustainable commercial,
industrial, "developmental", and local pressures. Government
investment in protecting valuable reserve areas especially for the
lesser known sanctuaries is woefully inadequate.
This organization is dedicated to generating resources from the people around the world who care and are concerned for Wildlife in India, the Indian community, and professionals working overseas to assist specific protected areas under threat through direct financial and material help, innovative
schemes to involve local people and timely applied research to
address urgent management and conservation issues.
